Rebrand Cost: What Changing Your Brand Really Costs a Startup

Rebrand cost for a startup in 2026: identity prices plus the downstream bill for your website, product UI, decks and SEO that most rebrand quotes leave out.

By Mehdi Hassan6 min read

The short answer

Rebrand cost for a startup is the identity fee plus the rollout. Identity work typically runs from about $5,000 to $25,000 for a full system, or $25,000 to $200,000+ with a strategy-led agency. Rollout across your website, product UI and decks commonly adds 20–40% on top, and is the part most quotes leave out.

Key takeaways

  • A rebrand has two bills: the identity and the rollout. Most quotes only cover the first.
  • ManyPixels' cost guide suggests adding 20–40% to the identity budget for rollout.
  • The website, product UI and sales decks are the biggest downstream costs for a SaaS startup.
  • A rebrand can damage organic search if redirects and SEO checks are skipped.
  • Designify pairs a $3,000 brand & design sprint with fixed-price site builds: $6,000 page, $8,000 site.

Part of Startup Branding Cost: Logo, Identity and Brand Sprint Prices

How much does a rebrand cost?

A rebrand costs the price of the new identity plus the price of putting it everywhere your old brand lives. The identity alone is typically $5,000 to $25,000 for a full system and $25,000 to $200,000+ for a strategy-led agency, based on typical ranges we see quoted. ManyPixels' brand identity cost guide suggests adding 20–40% for rollout.

For a startup, rollout is mostly digital: the website, the product interface, decks, email templates and social profiles. That's good news, because digital rollout is controllable. It's also the bill founders most often forget to budget. For the identity-side price tiers in more detail, see our hub on startup branding cost.

Rebrand scope

Identity cost (typical)

Rollout to budget

Refresh: same name, cleaned-up mark, new palette and type

Brand sprint, $3,000 at Designify

Homepage and key templates

Full visual rebrand: new identity, same name

$5,000–$25,000

Website, product UI, decks, plus 20–40%

Strategic rebrand: new position, possibly new name

$25,000–$200,000+

Everything above, plus domain and SEO work

What are the downstream costs of a rebrand?

The downstream costs of a rebrand are every surface that shows your brand. For a software startup, the big three are the website, the product UI and sales material. Each has its own cost, and none is usually included in a branding agency's quote.

Surface

What changes

Why it costs more than expected

Marketing website

Colors, type, imagery, often layout and copy

Old layouts rarely fit a new identity, so it becomes a redesign

Product UI

Design tokens, components, icons, charts, emails

A palette that works in a hero can fail in dense interfaces

Decks and sales material

Investor, sales and hiring decks, one-pagers

Every deck gets rebuilt, often by hand

Domain and SEO

Redirects, metadata, search console, backlinks

Done badly, it can erase organic traffic

Everything else

Social profiles, docs, app store listings, swag

Lots of small tasks that add up in team time

The website line is usually the largest. Our guide to what a startup website costs has ranges by scope, and if you're on Webflow, see our seed-stage website budget. For product interfaces, our note on MVP design cost explains what a UI pass typically involves.

How can a rebrand hurt your search traffic?

A rebrand hurts search traffic when URLs, page titles or the domain change without proper redirects and checks. Search engines treat the new pages as new, and the authority built up on the old ones can be lost. The Workfront case, the company formerly called AtTask, documented by Big Leap, is a well-known example of a rebrand wiping out organic visibility.

The fix is process, not luck. Map every old URL to a new one, keep high-ranking pages' content where possible, update titles and metadata deliberately, and monitor Google Search Console after launch. Google's documentation on moving a site with URL changes covers the official steps.

What drives rebrand cost up or down?

Rebrand cost is driven by how much you're changing, how many surfaces you have, and how many people must approve. A refresh with stable URLs and two decision-makers can be a fraction of the cost of a name change across a product suite.

  • Depth of change. A refresh keeps recognition. A new name restarts it and adds legal, domain and SEO work.
  • Number of surfaces. One product and a 6-page site is very different from three apps and a 200-page site.
  • Stakeholders. Investors, a board and a sales team each add rounds.
  • Who rolls it out. If the identity team also designs and builds the website, you skip a handoff and a second discovery phase.
  • Timing. Tying the rebrand to a launch or raise compresses the schedule, and compressed schedules cost more.
For example, suppose a Series A SaaS company refreshes its brand

Hypothetical example: a Series A company with one product and an 8-page marketing site keeps its name but needs a modern identity. A path at Designify's published prices: a $3,000 brand & design sprint for the identity and 10 website or product explorations, then an $8,000 website for up to 6 pages plus $500 for each of 2 extra pages, which is $9,000.

That's $12,000 for identity plus a rebuilt site, before any product UI work the team does in-house. A full agency rebrand plus a separate web agency would typically cost far more, but would also include deeper research. The right answer depends on whether the company needs a new position or a new look.

What does Designify charge for a rebrand?

Designify handles a startup rebrand as a sprint followed by a fixed-price build. The brand & design sprint is $3,000 for a brand refresh or redesign plus 10 website or product explorations in Figma. It's design only, and you can take the files anywhere.

Brand & design sprint: identity plus 10 explorations
$3,000
Landing page in the new brand, Next.js build
$6,000
Website up to 6 pages, +$500 per extra page
$8,000

If you need the brand live, our landing page and website packages build directly from the sprint files. Migration work is scoped on the intro call, and we include redirects and SEO checks in any migration we take on. For a narrower option focused on a single page, see what a SaaS landing page costs at each budget.

Should you rebrand or just refresh?

Refresh if customers recognize you and the problem is that you look dated or inconsistent. Rebrand if your position has changed, you've pivoted to a new market, or your name actively causes confusion. A refresh is cheaper and keeps hard-won recognition; a rebrand is a reset you should only pay for when the old brand is in the way.

Before either, check whether the problem is the brand at all. Low conversion is often a copy or page structure issue, and a CRO audit can confirm that for much less. A short summary of rebrand pricing is also in our quick answer on how much a rebrand costs.

Frequently asked questions

How do I tell customers about a rebrand?
Tell them before or on launch day, and explain what changes and what doesn't. A short email, an in-app notice and a page explaining the reasons work well. Reassure customers that their accounts, pricing and support are unaffected if that's true. Keep the old name visible alongside the new one for a while so returning visitors and search users know they're in the right place.
When is the wrong time to rebrand a startup?
Avoid rebranding mid-fundraise, right before a major launch without buffer time, or while positioning is still shifting every month. You'll pay twice if the message changes again. Also avoid rebranding to fix a sales problem without evidence the brand is the cause. Rebrand when the position is stable and the current brand is clearly holding you back.
Does a rebrand need a new website?
Usually, yes, at least the homepage and key templates. A new identity on an old layout tends to look patched, because layout, spacing and imagery are part of the brand. Whether you need a full rebuild depends on how flexible the current site is. Many teams use a rebrand as the moment to fix copy and structure too, since both get reviewed anyway.
Should I change my domain when I rebrand?
Only if the name changes or the current domain causes real confusion. A domain change adds redirect, search and email work, and carries risk to organic traffic. If you do change it, redirect every old URL to its new equivalent, keep the old domain registered, and monitor search performance closely for several months after the switch.
