What does the website cost estimator measure?
The estimator turns your scope into the range agencies typically quote for it, plus the fixed price we'd charge for the same work. It doesn't crawl your current site or price your exact design. It maps a handful of scope choices (landing page or website, platform, page count, brand work, migration) onto ranges we found in 2026 agency pricing pages and cost guides.
Treat the output as a budgeting sanity check before you talk to anyone. If your budget sits far below the low end of the range, the scope needs cutting. If a quote you've received sits far above the high end, ask what's in it that the range doesn't cover. For the long-form version of this, read how much a website costs for a startup.
What are typical website costs by scope?
These are the market ranges the estimator uses. They are typical ranges we see quoted, they vary widely, and the sources often disagree with each other. The Designify column is our published fixed price.
Scope | Typical range quoted (2026) | Designify fixed price | Source |
|---|---|---|---|

How does the estimator calculate the range?
The method is deliberately simple, so you can check it. Your scope and platform select a row from the table above and show its full range, because where a quote lands inside it depends on details no form can capture: copy, custom illustration, CMS collections, integrations and migration each push it up.
Pick the scope
Landing page, multi-page site, redesign or migration. This sets the base range.
Set the page count and platform
Framer, Webflow and Next.js agency builds have different typical ranges, so the platform changes the band.
Add what you need written and designed
Copy, brand work, CMS, animation and integrations each push the estimate toward the top of the band.
Choose who you'd hire
Hourly rates differ by region: about $80–180 per hour in the US, £55–90 in the UK, $25–60 in Eastern Europe and $15–45 in South Asia, according to 2026 rate surveys.

How should you read your estimate?
Read the middle of the range as the realistic number for a competent agency, the low end as what you get when scope is tightly fixed or the provider is junior, and the high end as enterprise process, large teams or heavy custom work. A range that spans $5,000 to $80,000 isn't vague for the sake of it. Webflow projects really do run that wide, depending on who writes the copy and how much is custom.
The biggest single swing factor is copy. Landing page cost guides note that two quotes for the same page can differ tenfold depending on whether strategy and writing are included. If one quote is a fraction of another, check whether you're expected to write every word yourself. Our guide to hidden website costs lists the other line items that get left out.
What drives website cost up or down?
- Copy and positioning. Writing from scratch is real work. If the agency writes, expect a higher quote and a better page.
- Custom design versus a template. A template cuts design time but limits how well the page fits your story.
- Platform. Next.js agency builds typically quote higher than Framer or Webflow builds. Read Next.js website cost for when custom code earns its price.
- CMS and integrations. Blog, case studies, careers, HubSpot or CRM forms and analytics each add build and QA time.
- Migration. Redirects, content import and SEO checks are separate work, often 10–20% on top.
- Process overhead. Large agencies carry account managers and longer review rounds, which shows up in the price.
When is a fixed-price studio the better fit?
A fixed price fits when your scope is clear: a launch site, a redesign of a 4–8 page marketing site or a single conversion page. Our website package is $8,000 for up to 6 pages, plus $500 per extra page, with custom design, a Next.js build, a CMS and animation. The landing page is $6,000. You can see how fixed pricing works, and what to watch for, in our piece on fixed-price website projects.
It's not the best fit for a 200-page enterprise site with procurement, or for a first page you could ship on a template this week. For ongoing work, the $6,000 per month retainer replaces a string of small projects. We designed and built sites for Update.ai and Jupay, and the delivery timeline for your project is scoped on the intro call. If you want a second opinion on a quote, the next step is a free 30-minute call, or compare all offers on our pricing.
What should you do with the estimate next?
Use the range to set a budget, then write it into a brief so every agency quotes the same scope. Our web design RFP template gives you the sections to send. Before you spend on a redesign, it's worth scoring your current page with the landing page grader: sometimes the fix is the copy, not a new site.
